About me

A little about who I am, my approach to counselling, and the experience I bring to our work together.

Who am I?

My name is Jude, Dip Counsellor, and I practice Humanistic counselling. My main modalities for counselling include Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, Person-Centred and Play Therapy.

What does that mean?

Ultimately, this means that when I am practising, my entire focus is on you and the therapeutic relationship. I find that developing an understanding of who you are and how you have been impacted by your core concern allows me to sit with you in those feelings and walk alongside you as you navigate your experience with me as a witness

My approach is centred around you as an individual (person-centred). How your experience is impacting you in your day-to-day life, and more specifically, in the here and now in sessions (Gestalt). How your outlook on life and your experience shape your understanding and interactions with your environment (transactional analysis). Once this picture has been painted, I use a wide range of creative and conversational tools, such as talking therapy, drawing, small world, metaphors, games, etc. (play therapy) to help support you as you grow your understanding of self and pursue your named goals in session.

My experience

Working with explosive and overwhelming emotions, including anger management, shame, guilt, depression and self-harm.
I am well-versed in navigating and supporting neurodivergent needs with 10 years of experience in supportive roles.
I have first-hand experience with caring for those with physical disabilities through working in day care; I wholeheartedly understand the trials of those who support others, often at the cost of their own energy.
Supporting young adults with gender dysphoria and negotiating gender and sexuality with themselves and their support network.
Relational issues, including working with individuals in compromising family dynamics as well as working with individuals navigating their intimate and sexual relationships. including attachment theory.
I have a wealth of recent experience working with young adults around anxiety, panic attacks, stress, self-esteem, bullying, loneliness, internet addiction and being a young career.
Supporting those through bereavement and loss.
I have experience working with those who have paranoid tendencies, OCD and intrusive thoughts, and find some sense of peace and balance with their thought process around compulsions and actions.
Working in fast-paced, high-stress environments and the taxing sensations tied to this style of work

I’m here to walk alongside you.

If you feel we might be a good fit, I’d be happy to hear from you and answer any questions you may have.
